After my trip to Sarajevo I worked my way into a day trip to see Pompeii, Naples, Sorrento, and Capri. Tony the Priest was our guide through Pompeii and it was fascinating. Mt. Vesuvius erupted in 79 A.D. and covered the city and its inhabitants in hot ash, preserving their forms in stone. This was a modern seaport full of trade with modern arenas, forums, shops, spas, running water, art, and housing.
