I was the Chief of Communications and Computer Systems for the Joint Special Operations Task Force II in San Vito, Italy. We occupied San Vito Air Base and supported Operation Joint Guard in Bosnia-Herzegovina. As one of the 6 senior officers on base I commanded a small staff charged with keeping all the communications gear operational. This is the view from my dorm (yes we were on the fence-line). I worked 12 hour days Mon-Sat and half day on Sunday, but I managed to have fun. I had a car, but we had to leave the base in pairs and be back before sundown. The chaplain organized a dinner at a local restaurant every 2 weeks and for only 26,000 lira you literally ate from 8pm till midnight. It was amazing!
