The arena in Pompeii was large enough to seat 80% of the population. The games were a very important part of life. During a 6 year period the games were banned by one of the Caesars and it was the infamous Caligula who returned the games to Pompeii. He was their most beloved Emperor. And on that note ends my 10 week trip to Italy. I can't wait to return.
