The Spanish Steps were packed -- people meeting one another, walking before dinner, and we even saw a bride and groom atop the steps having their pictures taken. It's a place for the people as are so many places in Italy. The running fountain in front of the Steps still brings fresh water to the people and you'd see the occasional person reach around for a drink -- the stone worn down by centuries of hands bracing themselves for a drink.
