Orvieto is built atop volcanic rock and you must ride a funicular to get to the top where you'll find the Orvieto Cathedral with it's fabulous Gothic facade. The gold mosaic tiles shine in the afternoon sun. I went down the street to buy a sandwich and eat while walking around the town.
